History:

A 25 year old, G3 P2 L1 IUD 1, pregnant lady at 34+ 6 weeks from rural Tamil Nadu presented with 1 day history of multiple episodes of watery, large volume diarrhoea, resembling rice water with associated vomiting. There was no fever.

There was no history of recent travel, food allergies or any intake of drugs besides the iron tablets for her pregnancy.

On Examination:

Moderately built. Dry tongue, lips and mucosal surfaces. HR-110/mt.Thready pulse.

BP 100/60mm of Hg.

Systemic examination was normal.

Obstetric examination revealed a single live foetus, with no evidence of IUGR or foetal distress.
